ABOUT DISABILITY INSURANCE

Most of us depend on our paycheck for everyday expenses like paying bills and buying necessities to funding other obligations like investing or saving for a much-needed vacation. For even the well-intentioned, a short-term disability can create unexpected and unforeseen hardships that can postpone important financial obligations. For others not as prepared, a few months of absence from work could easily cause members with no cash flow to deplete their retirement savings or consider bankruptcy and other desperate options.

Existing sick pay or PTO programs may not provide enough protection. If you run out of vacation or leave days, will you have enough savings to make it? Social Security disability benefits can be difficult and time-consuming to receive.

A long-term absence from work could endanger your family’s financial future, but disability insurance provides the income so you can concentrate on getting back on the road to recovery.
